Faridah’s Journey of Resilience and Growth: Transformation through SCOBA

Before joining Tukulakulane SCOBA, Faridah faced significant financial challenges that made it difficult to provide consistent support for her family. Meeting basic needs such as paying school fees, ensuring food security, and managing household expenses was a daily struggle. Limited access to reliable income sources and financial services meant that long-term investments seemed out of reach.

Faridah’s journey began to change when she became an active member of the SCOBA group. Through regular saving and participation in group activities over a period of six years, she gradually built financial discipline and access to small loans. This support enabled her to invest in income-generating activities, particularly in poultry farming and goat rearing.

As a result of her commitment and persistence, Faridah has achieved remarkable milestones. She has successfully educated her children, ensuring they stay in school without interruption. She also bought a 5,000-litre water tank, which has improved water access for both domestic use and her poultry project. Most notably, she purchased a motorcycle, which has greatly eased transportation for collecting poultry feeds and accessing markets. The motorcycle has also become an additional source of income, further strengthening her financial position and boosting her savings within the group.

Today, Faridah stands as a testimony to the power of collective saving and determination. Her improved livelihood has not only benefited her household but also inspired fellow group members.

Future Plans:
Faridah plans to expand her poultry business to increase production and income. She also aims to diversify her investments and continue strengthening her savings to secure a more stable future for her family.
