Braiding Life Transformations: Julianah’s story after joining a School Community Bank

Before joining the SCOBA initiative, 33-year-old Julianah faced challenges of limited capital, which restricted her ability to expand her salon business and maintain adequate stock of hair products. This often led to missed opportunities to serve more customers and increase the chances of growth.

As she started participating in a SCOBA, Julianah embraced a culture of saving consistently and managing her finances more effectively. Over time, she accumulated savings that enabled her to gradually improve her salon by increasing stock such as hair products and equipment. With growing customer demand and improved financial confidence, Julianah identified an additional opportunity to boost her income.

Recognizing the need to diversify her business, she introduced the sale of soft drinks at her salon. This strategic move not only attracted more customers but also increased her daily earnings, as clients could enjoy refreshments while receiving services. Her business has since become more vibrant and appealing, contributing to higher customer satisfaction and retention.

Future Plans
Julianah plans to further expand her business by adding more beauty services, increasing stock, and possibly acquiring a larger space to accommodate more clients comfortably. She also aims to continue saving and accessing larger financial support to strengthen her enterprise.
